{"id":1130,"date":"2020-11-24T14:33:49","date_gmt":"2020-11-24T14:33:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/europeanforum.eu\/?p=1130"},"modified":"2020-12-16T14:40:11","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T14:40:11","slug":"the-coronavirus-and-its-effects-on-trade-unions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/europeanforum.eu\/fr\/2020\/11\/24\/the-coronavirus-and-its-effects-on-trade-unions\/","title":{"rendered":"The coronavirus and its effects on trade unions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">REPORT TRADE UNIONISTS ASSEMBLY<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three panellists took the floor and presented three different viewpoints and realities; from a national trade union, from a left political party and from a trade union confederation at European level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Greek national perspective:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Wages going down, unrest going up \u2013 workers furloughed with \u20ac534\/month<\/li><li>Both public and private sectors hit by crisis<\/li><li>Most vulnerable workers have no choice than \u201con-site\u201d working<\/li><li>Mass-media not supportive of social and trade union claims<\/li><li>Big demonstrations taking place in the streets (even if trade union membership is low)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Left political party:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Labour rights and trade unions under pressure (threat of labour market reforms)<\/li><li>Aim of changes: less social protection and company agreements (instead national)<\/li><li>A Social Protocol is needed at European level to base the Pillar of Fundamental Rights, which is merely a declaration nowadays<\/li><li>Relaunch the utility of European Works Councils for workers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Trade Union Confederation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>We need trade union in companies to stop job losses after Christmas<\/li><li>In order to gain power we need higher trade union density<\/li><li>A directive is needed to have all workers covered by CBA<\/li><li>Equal work \u2013 equal pay!!
